BARINAS
Located on the north face of South America, Venezuela was built around the depression of the Orinoco River. The immense plateau, nicknamed «el mundo perdido», occupies almost half of Venezuela and extends as far as Guyana and Brazil. It is a desolate, unwooded and practically uninhabited region. The rain here is very heavy. Rivers suddenly flow from the edge of vertical walls up to a thousand meters high. The waters are golden brown and discourage piranhas.
Agriculture is concentrated in the north-west of the country with the production of coffee, cocoa and sugar cane. Food crops are being grown to cover the country’s needs with wheat, rice, maize and yam. The forest, exploited for its hardwoods, also produces the «chicle» and wild rubber. Cattle and horses are raised on the so-called "paranos" and "llanos".
The Folk Company «Barinas» was created on 17 July 2011, by Mr Efrain MALVACIA. Since then, she has presented a happy and strong show, sowing the seeds of the world, offering songs, dances and music from Venezuela. She continues her research in the field of choreography, in order to maintain her repertoire at a high level, while constantly renewing her artistic production.
Venezuela has a rich tradition that is nourished by the variety of its landscapes and the beauty of its artists. Without changing the authenticity of its dances, this ballet has adapted them to the inevitable evolution of techniques and means of expression. Most of the cultural traditions in Venezuela are the result of a long process of interbreeding that began five hundred years ago, when the Spanish conquerors met the inhabitants of a territory later called Venezuela. After this process of meeting and mixing, it can be said that at least four types of cultural traditions coexist for the greatest richness of the show: ethnic origin, European culture, creation of local crossbreeding and traditions where Afro-elements predominateAmerican.
There is no society without celebration, ceremony and celebration. Since time immemorial, human groups have interacted in rituals to try to communicate with the gods and deities and offer their acknowledgments for the richness of nature. Thus, the show of the folk company «Barinas» rediscovers the cycle of time and the memory of men of this country. In these rites and celebrations are mixed in a prodigious way, the songs, offerings, prayers, clothing that give them a special appeal.
From gold of the conquerors to black gold, culture and history have continued a round that still lasts in the intact brilliance of the orchids that populate the landscapes of Venezuela.
